Dr (Mrs) Jasvinder Kaur Sangha joined the University services as Teaching Associate in 1980 and as Assistant Professor in 1982. She was selected Associate Professor in 1990 and rose to the position of Professor in 1999. She joined as Dean, College of Home Science, PAU on November 15, 2013.
Dr (Mrs) Jasvinder Kaur Sangha has been actively engaged in teaching, research and extension in the discipline of Food and Nutrition for the last 34 years. She taught all UG and PG courses and guided student seminars. Advisement to 6 UG Advisory Groups; coordinated advisory meetings as Class Incharge. Guided 23 PG students as Major Advisor and Member of Advisory Committee of 35 students. Contributed for improving quality of education by active participation as Member of Resident Instruction Committee and Board of Studies; Chairman and Secretary, Departmental Academic Affairs Committee, Nominee, Dean, PGS at Department and College level. Contributed for restructuring of UG and PG course curricula as per recommendations of 3rd and 4th Deans’ Committee of ICAR; revised syllabus of ARS / NET for Food and Nutrition component. Empanelled; Member Board of Studies (H Sc) GNDU, Nominee UGC-DSA Programme, M S University, Baroda and Guest Faculty for Punjab State Health Systems & Corporation. Expert and External Examiner for CCSHAU, Hisar; HPKVV, Palampur; Jammu University; MPUAT, Udaipur and RAU, Bikaner. She has undergone three months FAO fellowship training at Cornell University, Ithaca in the field of Community Nutrition. She has worked on community nutritional problems, nutritional availability of micronutrients, development of value added products for nutritional and health benefits and empowerment of rural women.
Published 85 research papers in refereed journals; presented 42 papers and participated in 56 national and international Conferences / Seminars and Workshops. Contributed for strengthening and quality of research as Co-ordinator of Research, Secretary, Project Review Committee; Member monthly research Review Committee and Member Research Evaluation committee. Worked as team leader in UNDP / FAO Project on “Strengthening of Postgraduate Education and Research in Agricultural Universities” and as a team member in NATP Project on “Entrepreneurship for Women”. Worked as PI for 2 Projects and Co-PI for 4 projects. Got Best Poster Presentation Award at 42nd Annual National Conference of Nutrition Society of India, 2010. Co-author of paper awarded “Young Scientist Award” at 7th Punjab Science Congress; 2004. Got J N Bose Memorial Award (Community Nutrition) of Indian Dietetic Association 2012. Referee to five journals. Life membership of 8 profession societies. Had been member state Advisory Board of fluorosis.
Contributed for nutrition education of community through 117 articles and 36 radio / T V talks. Authored 2 manuals, 15 Booklets, 5 Folders and contributed 4 chapters in Books. Coordinated extension activities of the department as Chairperson and Secretary, Extension Education Committee and notable contribution for preparing blow-ups, charts and display materials. Had been a member of Advisory Committee of PAU Publications. Resource person for Kisan Mela, ICDS training programme, Kisan Club meetings. Actively participated in extra curricular activities as Programme Officer, NSS; President, Dance Dram and Music Club, Incharge Music, Drama, Young Writers Association of the College and Executive Member, PAU Science Club. Possess administrative experience at responsible position of Dean; Head, Department of Food and Nutrition; Co-ordinator of Research (Home Science); University Librarian and Additional Director of Research (FSNE).
