Manaviya Shiksha Sanskar Sansthan

Manaviya Shiksha Sanskar Sansthan                                       Mandhana, Kanpur
Manaviya Shiksha Sanskar Sansthan (MS3) was established in 2000 at Mandhana, Kanpur to facilitate the realization of Universal Human Order (Manaviya Vyavastha) through Humanistic Education (Manaviya Shiksha-Sanskar). First to establish a model of education in the society that enables one to lead a value based life; and this, in turn, would enable participation in setting up a human tradition in which the human goal is realised. Human goal being right understanding & right feeling (happiness) in every individual, prosperity in every family, fearlessness (trust) in society and co-existence (mutual-fulfilment) in nature/existence.
At the sansthan, the focus is on understanding all aspects of the human reality and living on that basis, i.e. developing the understanding through a process of self-exploration while making an effort for prosperity by way of production of the necessary physical facility through labour. The Sansthan family has 12 members. The daily routine includes 6 hours of self-study, 6 hours of labour (in agriculture, cow keeping or maintenance), 6 hours of interaction & 6 hours for rest.
The production of the physical facility includes agriculture on about 7 acres of land as well as cow-keeping. There are about 25 cows. The sansthan is now self-sufficient in production of food grain as well as milk.
Currently, we use grid-power for lights and pumping water. In an effort to be locally self-sufficient, we want to install a solar pump. A 3 HP water pump running for 4 hours a day i.e. approx 8 KW per day will be sufficient for the sansthan. We estimate that with a  bore diameter of 4 inch and depth is 100 ft, a submersible pump can be placed at 70 ft depth. If we consider the agriculture within the sansthan premises only, the estimate is that we will require a 1.5 HP pump (without the irrigation requirement).
Based on the work in education, particularly at IIIT-Hyderabad, the then president of India, Dr. Abdul Kalam spoke about this topic in his address to the nation on the eve of the Independence Day (15th August) 2006: “… being practiced by Prof Ganesh Bagaria, … Prof Rajeev Sangal… and their teamsJeevan Vidya is a ‘teachable human value based skill’… This process of imparting self-knowledge would promote a learning atmosphere, where this whole movement of inquiry into knowledge, into oneself, into the possibility of something beyond knowledge would bring about naturally a psychological revolution… From this comes inevitably a totally different order in human relationship and therefore society as a whole. The intelligent understanding of this process itself can bring about a profound change in the consciousness of mankind…”
MS3 is currently involved in 3 fundamental activities:

  1. Lok Shiksha Yojana (People’s Education)
  2. Shiksha-sanskar Yojana (Education-sanskar)
  3. Akhand Samaj & Sarvbhaum Manaviya Vyavastha Yojana (Undivided Society & Universal Human Order)

Lok Shiksha Yojana (People’s Education Plan)
Goal: To take the proposal of a humane society to every individual of global society.
Activities: Jeevan Vidya shivirs (workshops on Human Values) are organized regularly. PSL1, PSL2 & PSL3

  1. Reached over 20,000 people across the country (Adivasis of Jhabua, Prisoners of Bilaspur, IIT Profs…)
  2. About 1,000 people are pursuing it seriously
  3. About 200 people are investing all their time and energy trying to understand, live and share it with others in its entirety.

Shiksha Sanskar Yojana (Education Plan)
Goal: To facilitate the transformation of the education system into Value Based education system globally.
The outcome of such education-sanskar would be:

  1. With human beings: living with justice. This will eradicate the differentiation between human beings based on caste, creed, gender, wealth, conditionings, etc. and ensure a peaceful society free of struggle, envy, wars, destruction.
  2. With the rest of nature: living with mutual fulfilment. This will stop pollution, resource depletion, deforestation, extinction of animals and birds, man-induced havocs in nature, global warming, etc.

Since 2003, significant experiments have been made in introducing Value Education into the curriculum of technical education – at IIT-Kanpur since 2003, at IIIT-Hyderabad since 2005 and at UPTU (now GBTU & MMTU) since 2009 and PTU since 2011. Overall 33 universities in 7 states of India, and all universities of Bhutan or about 4000 colleges with 8000 teachers and 3,00,000 students/year are introduced to the proposal each year. The results are encouraging and support the validity of the views taken above.
Akhand Samaj & Sarvbhaum Manaviya Vyavastha Yojana (Undivided Society & Universal Human Order)
Goal: To facilitate undivided society and universal human order on this Earth
At the sansthan we are working on activities in all 5 dimensions of Human Order (Shiksha-Sanskar, Nyaya-Suraksha, Swasthya-Sanyam, Utpadan-Karya and Vinimay-Kosh). A model of self-sufficient living on 2-acres is being developed. Also a 100 acre village level model is being developed. Out of this, 27 acres is being developed. 7 acres is in full production.
